Dairy Shop Owner — They can be found in a huge number in the rural areas of the nation wherein comparatively less number of these owners could be found in the urban areas. Here we would be discussing their present status, their problems and would be discussing how migrating things to the
cloud could help them collectively.

Current Status

No technical records — The dairy shop owners are generally not much involved in keeping a technical record of their stuff but they mostly rely on their memory or they hardly keep a hard copy for maintaining these records.

No track expenditure and sales — On the other hand the expenditure and sales are hard to track when they are not recorded somewhere, only an approximate profit or loss can be figured out by such means. There are high chances of data loss when not in the proper form.

Resource management — The resources such as the food for cattle, records for the milkman are yet again not maintained or written in a proper form and therefore they could not be tracked easily when required. They have a small network of people to interact with when these resources like food and
labours are brought into consideration.

Low profit loss margin — The record of food consumed, milk produced, labours involved etc are unmanaged. This affects the cattle, providing a sort of leniency to the labourers who get paid for nothing. This can result eventually to a low profit loss margin to the owner of the dairy.

Least medical support — The number of doctors responsible for the medication and vaccination of the cattle are limited to a little quantity, quite a few times these doctors do not show up at the time of need or emergency and as the result of the same the cattle suffers adding up a loss to the owner.

Status Quo

Record maintenance — A dairy shop keeper has to deliver some quantity daily to some customers at their home so they keep this the track of delivery with coupons. Like for a month a customer wants a 1 litre of milk daily in the morning so whenever delivery boy comes to deliver the milk the customer
will provide him 1 coupon and 1 coupon means 1 litre of milk. So for the weekend the customer goes out so he will not be taking the milk. So sometimes these weekend charges are also included in the bills.

Variety of milk record - In dairy shops there are two types of milk like buffalos milk, cow milk and a variety of brands like Gokul, warna, amul, arey etc. So these can lead to the mistakes in the billing. The keeper needs to keep the bills record for each brand with the type of milk.

Work expansion — Shopkeeper needs to analyze the selling of the particular milk if there are higher selling rates in his area so that he can order that type and brand of milk more to maintain inventory.

Least track over cattle — The cattle are yet another important aspect of the entire dairy so from their food consumption, the quantity and quality both should be taken care of but could not be done. Also their medications and vaccinations are missed because there is no record maintained regarding the
same, as the consequence to which the cattle suffer and affects the owner at the same time.

Least track over labours — Keeping the track of all the labours, their attendance, wages etc are tough to be recorded without penning it down somewhere therefore at times the owner misses out these minor details which would turn out to be a loss for him. Even at the time of paying their wages at the end of the month these details are required to penalise them if needed.

Least track over customers — Talking about the customers, their details are equally important as they are the consumers of the service. The day they missed out or days when the product was not delivered to them as to be taken care of while billing them for the same.

Cloud Solution

To tackle the various problems mentioned we can build an infrastructure over the cloud. A website could be hosted over cloud wherein the owner would have an admin access wherein he can put in the data into the database integrated with the same.

Every little thing which was hard to track can be tracked and managed with ease.

Tracking labours in and out — From the date where a labour was hired to the date he is released, his background could be well recorded. Similarly for cattles, their food, medications. For customers their receivings, monthly payments record and many more things can be tracked.

Cash to cashless payments — Instead of keeping up the track of cash payments, the owner can introduce a cashless gateway through which the customer can make the payments through the website at their own convenience. This would help the owner to keep a better record of the payments coming to him without any mismanagement. Feedback can also be taken from the customers who are consuming the products about the quality of the milk or other services of the dairy as feedback plays a vital role in scalability and expansion of business.

Rolling out the wages in time — On the other hand, paying the labourers working in a dairy could be easier and their payments could be processed on a fixed date without any delay. So there would be an ease to the owner regarding the salaries roll outs for his labours and that too on a fixed date without any delay.

Analysing records — Predictive analytics and analysis methods can be applied to the data stored in the cloud through which future orders can be placed by analysing the current demands of the market.

Wide range of medical support — In case of an emergency, a wide range of vets would be made available for the cattle so that the treatment or any sort of medications could be provided with ease. Also the history of their medications and vaccinations can be tracked and be reminded at the time of need to the owner. For example if the vaccination date of a few cattle approaches it could be easily reminded to the owner or the respective labour who handles the same.

Other add ons to the business — When everything could be tracked and well managed, the owner could add some extra services to his business such as online delivery of the milk which would cut down the cost of milkmen the owner would have hired. He could also try his luck on the milk products such as cheese, Yoghurt , ghee etc. this would attract customers because of the purity of the products which have been directly fetched from the dairy.
